Catching up with Salam Pax and Raed - the silly buggers are talking about Iraq becoming the 51st state. As if. dear_raed.blogspot.com No, my dear Iraqis, your country isn't about to become the 51st state. You'll be lucky if it isn't dumped as completely as we're going to dump Afghanistan. The most presence we'll leave would be military bases, maybe, and possibly civilian compounds where our advisors can live a reasonably American lifestyle. No matter what Moveon.org tells you, this ain't no empire, and Baghdad ain't Paris in the springtime. To us, it's a hole, a dump, and will soon become where you send people to punish them. Grab what you can get now that you have our attention, because it won't last.
