Treat yourself to a trial subscription of The Value Line Options surveys--3 months for $55 and the best money you'll ever spend. You don't need to continue subscribing (at much higher price) after reading the basics. I trade online with ETrade, which has just added an excellent options analysis feature (all prices, leverage and evaluation). After what you learn in Value Line, this gives you the tools you need to make intelligent decisions. You'll have a few trial and error fumbles, as I did at the start, but you get better along the way. I've earned about $30000 over the past year from covered calls and had only 6 stocks called away (if you write the option correctly, it's best to let them go.) For the year, I've added 4 points to my overall performance and it's definitely worthwile. Come back to me after you've done the homework and I'll be happy to do what tutoring I'm capable of.
