If Bush attended funerals the focus would be on him, not the soldiers and their families. That alone makes it a good idea to let the focus stay on the family and friends. If J. Lo showed up at your wedding you'd fade into the background pretty fast. This is sort of like the "cod-piece" items about Bush when he flew in onto the deck of a carrier. I'd be willing to bet Kerry was wearing his "cod-piece" when he played in the hockey game a few nights ago. Much ado about nothing. If Bush attended one funeral and not another wouldn't people be offended? Besides, if he did, between that (500 funerals) and his vacations he wouldn't have time to do anything that would bother his political rivals, which is one of his sworn duties.
