Whether you want to call it judgment or not, I don't care.
The point is that babies are formed in our image, but they have no ability to understand adult thinking, or the reasons why adults do what they do to or for the babies.
IMO, our relationship to God is pretty much the same thing. Yes, a baby grows and matures and will eventually become an adult. Is the human race going to grow and mature and eventually become, or at least become able to understand, God? if so, we're very, very, very far from that -- maybe the equivalent of age 2 -- clearly by your definition a 2 year old can exercise judgment of a rudimentary level, but also clearly a 2 year old can't understand sophisticated adult thinking about cause and effect, good and evil, etc.
My basic point remains that there is nothing at all in the Bible or in life which gives me any reason to believe that mankind is capable of understanding the mind, motives, purposes, and reasoning of God. |
