These batteries have been known to catch fire even when not in use.

Could you imagine a cell phone or other such device in a suitcase in checked-in baggage storage area of an airliner. Particularly bad if the plane was in a mid-ocean flight over the cold North Atlantic.

If you had a fire erupt, the pilot would have to ditch the plane.
