me to-Also after the bell, Agilent Technologies (A: news, chart, profile) raised its profit targets for its fiscal first quarter, which ends Jan. 31, saying sales have dropped less than expected after the holidays. The producer of semiconductors and testing equipment now expects profits of 20 to 24 cents a share after earlier forecasting 5 to 15 cents a share, excluding charges for restructuring and amortization. "Both semiconductors and semiconductor capital equipment have been particularly strong," said Ned Barnholt, chairman of the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company, who also cited success in lowering structural costs.

Shares of Agilent gained 10 percent to $37.30 in late dealings
