Trying to fix it now.

best of luck.

My Dad's PC got infected with a really old piece of malware. It was on some CD's that came with the second hand PC. Even though we cleaned it out, it would keep coming back. It was one that automatically made the browser default to a porn site. Ad Aware 2.6 detected the malware bugs. He has Win 98 so I could not install Spyware Blaster.

Then I had the idea to clean it out once again, then switch off the PC at the power chord without letting it close down properly. That did the trick. The bug was resident in the system files and would re infect the PC on proper close down procedure. Once setting up the browser to a normal page it was then OK.
