An Evangelical who worked with me-he enjoyed the fact that I was going to burn in hell-went back to school to learn Greek so he could read the originals.

An Evangelical who worked with me and who left to attend seminary along with his wife so they could become missionaries, and who was as nice and as smart as anyone could possibly be and who intelligently and respectfully discussed religion with me many times, was looking forward to learning Greek and Hebrew at the seminary so he could read various documents in the original. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying enough attention to which documents.

I thought studying languages was a waste of their time. Having been a language major as an undergraduate, I was appreciative of how well one needs to know a language before reading something in the original language has an advantage over reading a translation.

Thanks for reminding me of him. I should try to track him down and see what he's up to.
