Interesting fraud warning message posted by an Ebay seller. Of course EBAy is not the only place where caveat emptor rules.

You would think there could be more EBAY could do to spot problem areas and take steps to block the fraudulent seller.

FRAUD ALERT!!! FRAUD ALERT!!
Unfortunately there has been a lot of sellers on eBay who are fraudulent, and only wish to steal your hard earned money. Plasma televisions in particular seem to be an item they focus on due to the high cost, and the overall popularity of the items. Frauds can be difficult to spot, but not in most cases if you look for the signs. fraudulent sellers sometimes "hijack" the accounts of legitimate sellers to use that persons good feedback to scam others. they do this by sending spoof emails that look like they are from eBay stating the customer must "update their records" including password, which eBay NEVER does! so make sure you look at the ACTUAL ITEMS they have received feedback on to make sure they have sold plasmas or home theater equipment in the past. Also follow the simple guidelines below to help protect yourself!!

Some potential signs of fraud include:

No phone number to call
Short running auctions (3 day)
Unwilling to accept Escrow, COD, PayPal or other Credit Cards as form of payment
No feedback on sales of Plasma TV's or anything related to home theater
States shipping will take 3-4 weeks or more
Ridiculously low buy it now prices ($8000 plasma for $2000 hint: they do not make such a thing!)
Free shipping from such places as Australia or the Netherlands
In particular, if you are asked to send payment via Western Union to a European location, run for the hills! I would suggest to NEVER send payment via Western Union
