We need to get rid of our Nukes, and demand that every country in the world do so. If we don't we will have a City nuked in the next 20 years.

We have no need for them, and would never use them.

Einstein was a staunch pacifist, yet with WWII looming, he joined a large group of scientists and signed a petition to Roosevelt urging him to develop the atomic bomb. Einstein knew what Hitler was doing to the Jews and others. He opposed oppression more than he opposed war.

Humans are still the bloodiest of all animals. the world is at war...an ever expanding war. This war is far from over and the final outcome is not even close to being determined.

Voluntarily giving up our best weapons would be suicide right now. I believe we need them, first as a deterrent.
We are also imo going to need them again to defend our liberty on the battlefield. Yes, I am predicting that we are going to need our nuclear arsenal again soon. The sheer number of motivated opponents coupled with the geographical considerations are about to make it impossible to continue to defend ourselves against this broadening war with the current US troop levels.

Our offensive tactical doctrine requires a strong reserve. Our current balance of forward forces vs reserve forces is out of whack. We do not have the reinforcing capability required by our doctrine. The realities of the current war are such that I believe our nukes are widely disbursed, deployed in forward areas, and ready for immediate use world-wide. I believe they have transitioned from a strategic deterrence to a tactical reserve role. I believe they will be needed and will be used both for force protection and retaliation.

It is sad to say that...and though I am a war veteran I hate seeing war used to settle disputes. I have seen, heard, smelled and felt the pain of war. It is the most horrible thing one can imagine. But it is a tool that is widely in use by humans world-wide and there is no sense in denying that. Nor can we deny that we have a very very large contingent of war-like folks hell bent on destroying America right now.

Until war is ended for all time, I am opposed to disarming. I also believe we should be constantly working to maintain a technological edge and advantage with our weaponry.

Over 42 million Americans have served in war.
We have 25 million living war veterans and 17.5 million of them have served in war. It has been said nobody hates war more than those who did this service. I like to think about that this way - Nobody loves Liberty more than those who have seen oppressed people freed. Nobody loves Liberty more than those who have seen the work of a ruthless dictator. For those reasons our veterans are willing to fight again. With the exception of course of Kerry and Clark.
