Hi John, RE: "It's interesting that if you go back to the Vietnam days, the war hawks were the ones in favor of the draft, the war doves against it. Frankly, in Vietnam, they wouldn't have had enough folks to fight the war without the draft; most people were sensible enough not to volunteer. Because I suggested the draft would be a good idea, and I'm against the war, the hawks on this thread jumped head first to the other side. Funny."

So interesting. Is it the content or the party association that makes an idea good or bad?

On another note, Dems and Reps have changed their topics over the years. I like how most people seem to be getting more fiscally cautious.

Do you think Dean's overly enthusiastic Iowa performance was the real issue for the overall national polls dropping the next day on him, or, is it because people like to band behind the perceived leader? What would the national polls look like tomorrow, if the news media made an error and accidentally reported Edwards won NH? Would Edwards national poll results go up, because people tend to be attractive to the person in the #1 spot? i.e. what portion of people's preferences are based upon the actual content vs the image?

Regards,
Amy J
