Earlie from Earlie:

Big grin at this end this week as one of my "juniors", Mosaic Mapping (DEM - CDNX), was just acquired by Pulse data (PSD - TSX).

The "start-up" and "early stage" territory is not a place for the faint of heart, but when they do work out, the gains are delightful, both in monetary terms as well as in one's feelings of accomplishment. I've been assisting in the background on this one for a few years and it has not been without many moments of teeth-gnashing and hand wringing (raising dough for juniors is becoming increasingly difficult if not impossible unless it is a gold-based deal). With its revenue growth running at over 100% per annum, financing that growth through cash flow has been the name of the game.... a game that experienced players know all-too-frequently ends in a bankruptcy.

Mosaic's new parent, Pulsa Data is an excellent company and I recommend that folks take a look at its numbers and balance sheet. It is quite undervalued at a 10:1 PE and even pays a dividend! The balance sheet is also in good shape and a couple of analysts are just starting to warm up to it. My own analysis suggests that earnings will take a big jump in 2004 from the current $0.17 per share, due both to the generic explosive growth occurring within the GIS industry, as well as a very healthy contribution that I expect Mosaic will provide.

The above information will be of interest to the several posters on the thread who were brave enough to jump into Mosaic when I mentioned that it seemed to be making good progress through its teething period. (g)

Best, Earlie
