Looking at the current administration, ducking out of military service does not seem to be a big deal.

Well, Bush did serve, sort of. If the Dems do nominate Dean, that will be two in a row who ducked the draft under, uh, rather dubious circumstances. In the changed world circumstances, I'm not sure anti-militarism will fly as well for Dean as it did for Clinton.
