hard for me to take a guy in a carrot suit as a fanatic. But anyway, I don't even care about Peta, I have that on my list of favorite sites as a joke. I used to have Peta and DrKoop but they must have changed the URL on Koop. I am not a vegetarian. You guys just took it, and ran with it, and made a huge deal out of it, as if it was serious.

BTW more capex bad news for computers. My understanding is that computer capex statistics are overstated also, and if that is the case then this is not good.

"This is a disappointing report. We got a second straight decline, excluding transportation," said David Sloan, economist at 4CAST in New York.

BROAD WEAKNESS

The durable goods report, which provides a key reading on the health of the manufacturing sector, showed a broad range of categories suffering from weaker demand.

Orders for non-defense capital goods excluding aircraft -- seen as a proxy for business spending -- fell 0.4 percent. Economists believe a sustained pickup in business spending is crucial for a long-lasting economic recovery.

Orders of computers and electronic products fell 2.7 percent and orders for fabricated metal goods fell 0.8 percent.
