JF, If someone had, say, foreign policy experience, would you criticize them for using that for "political purposes"?

I see your point, so let me clarify. Kerry's service in Vietnam is admirable, but he is using it to portray himself as someone I believe he is not: A man who can be tough on terrorism and national security, but who also knows the cost of war and would never send troops into reckless battles.

His actions after Vietnam portray him more as a Jim McDermott/Jane Fonda type, and his voting record while in the Senate portray him as another Ted Kennedy. They speak just as loud as, if not louder than, his Vietnam service.
