Hi Rascal; Re: "My point was I said the Scientists fooled Saddam and told him they had made him weapons, when they really had not."

I doubt that Saddam's scientists were lying to him and making up fantasy weapons programs. The facts are that many of them were no longer employed by the regime, which would indicate no programs. If their were supposed programs going, the scientists would have generated jobs for their buddies. You always have to have a cover story if you're pulling that sort of stunt.

Another fact is that Saddam didn't just allow inspectors back into Iraq, he begged for them to come, and he gave them free reign to visit anywhere they wanted. This behavior is inconsistent with his having something to hide.

My guess is that the stories that "even Saddam was fooled" into believing that Iraq had WMDs are BS that has been unartfully created by the Bush Administration in order to try and divert blame for starting an unneeded and unwinnable war.

These guys have lied to you over and over, there's no reason for you to believe that they've suddenly started telling you the truth.

As usual, take a look at the whole situation. Figure out which of your data points are least likely to have been "fudged". Only then look to the motivations of the players in looking for an explanation.

Before the war, the logic of the simple-minded masses that make up our great country was "who would you believe, Bush or Saddam". Now that it is clear that there were no WMDs, that faulty logic, to the extent that it made sense before the war, should be reversed.
