Iraq to Elect New Olympic Committee DUKAN, Iraq (AP) -- Iraqi sports officials will elect a new national Olympic committee Thursday, picking a president to replace Saddam Hussein's son Odai, who reportedly tortured athletes. The International Olympic Committee suspended the Iraqi committee in May after the fall of Saddam's regime. Iraqis hope the new committee will pave the way for the IOC to lift the suspension in time for the country to compete at the Aug. 13-29 Athens Olympics. Copyright 2004 Associated Press.
