Carl
as usual thanks for once again a very well thought out post

I totally agree with your point that the trades made here evolved over time to be something very different from the original intent

so a good wake up call

so time to get back on track

I sure hope that people will now take a shot at posting ideas and trades
it has always confused me why for a contest a ton of people jump in with ideas, albeit far too many of them seem to be high spec penny type stocks
but day to day few will contribute

after all the talk about wanting a change it will be enjoyable to see how many people will be willing to post trades and be held accountable for them over an extended period of time
and I trust we will all learn something from the new ideas

one final comment about shorting
for some people going short on a portion of their assets may make sense
there are folks who have 80-90% of their assets exposed on the long side
in long term mutual funds that sit for 20+ years, IRA's, Sep IRA's, I Bonds. even god forbid a few C/D's
then toss on what one has "invested" in a house
with that level of exposure at risk to the vagaries of the economy and tied to a long term up trend, a couple of bucks, 10-20%, may be worth a hedge
