If you assume that the bear is there and that they recognize the bear, you are right. There's a downside to that, one that might seem worse to them than the bear.

If you are correct and they actually are more afraid of feeling weak in the face of the US than they are of Islamism and terrorism, then you're proving my point that they don't find the latter a dire risk. How could they if they are more afraid of feeling effete? They'd have to be nuts.
