Actually, the most geologically stable place in N. America is the Canadian Shield. If that was the criterion, should have built it in N. Minnesota.

Humanity isn't going to be deprived of these discoveries. The Europeans, God Bless -em, are dumping wads of cash on a similar project. In the big picture, what's the difference if the Secrets of the Universe come from Texas or Switzerland?
