Jerry,

A tale of woe it surely is.

OK, so what happens if, in some whim, I decide to call them by their old familiar names...C;\Drive and D:\Drive...in Disk Management. My "Program Files" will still really be labeled F:\ right? I've really accomplished nothing system wide, correct?

You need to look at the Disk Management screen and see which letters are Boot and/or System. I understand that you know which drive is C and which is F, but it will help to understand how XP is viewing the whole situation, including the missing E and D.

You could be back in hard drive hell if you change the letter of your boot or system drive. You should be able to change drive letters of non boot or non system.

Let me know what Disk Management reports.

Esteban
