AFFYMETRIX (30-3/4, up 1-3/8 @ 9:45am EDT) has entered into an agreement with PFIZER (54-3/8, up 7/8 @ 9:45am EDT) under which Pfizer will gain access to Affymetrix' GeneChip arrays to monitor gene expression. Under the terms of the agreement, Affymetrix will supply Pfizer with GeneChip instrumentation, software and custom DNA probe arrays containing genes selected by Pfizer to monitor specific gene expression levels for use in Pfizer's pharmaceutical R&D activities. In exchange, Affymetrix will receive undisclosed payments and has the potential to earn preclinical, clinical and commercial milestone payments. (Dow Jones)
