Re: Even many schools are not equipped with PowerPC. I did some volunteer work for NetDay, running ethernet cable in schools and so on. The elementary school where I was working had IIsi's (5MB of memory), and LCs. You can only do so much with that. Forget about running recent web browsers. Not that I think computers are essential to a quality elementary school education - I don't - but it must be discouraging to the kids. Time for Apple to give out a bunch of the more poorly-selling models, whichever they are - Performas? Or maybe, in light of their new financial ascetism, offer memory upgrades to schools. -Eve E-
