Schwab can't tell me which stocks are available to short.

I called Schwab to find out which stocks I might be able to short. Of course they can't sell something they can't borrow. But they don't keep that department open 24 hrs. All I can do is place an order and find out when it either does or doesn't go through --- or get up at 5:30 and call them again. I guess that's a good reason to go surfing with the Dawn Patrol, but I'd rather just sleep at that hour.

Has anyone had a better experience with another broker? I was considering switching to Lombard because of their lower commissions on under $10 stocks. 24 hour full-service might be another reason to switch.
