when I read your post and think about all the bureaucracy and self serving that goes on in the UN and other groups, I begin to appreciate the enormity and complexity of the job that Colin Powell has and many others in related fields of Geopolitics, how do you accomplish anything and remain positive when up against this kind of thinking.
I keep coming back to the thought that, most often,it is just best to keep each issue as simple and as straight forward as humanly possible, a lot of folks in and out of government often confuse eloquent, intellectual discourse and verbiage with the plain simple facts presented in plain simple language.
IMO Tom Friedman has the gifted ability to report in the plain simple manner and a lot of people do listen. He is usually right on the mark.
and so IMO......
the USA was right in Iraqi regime change, the world is better off.
yes, the USA under-estimated the complexity of a post regime change Iraq.
the USA is struggling with the Iraqi situation.
I believe we, the USA, will essentially be out of Iraq (90%) by the end of 2004.
the USA, under GWB, has put its foot down on terrorism and the terrorists have taken notice.
because of the actions of the USA re terrorism the world is in a safer and better place today.
I could go on and on and on ......
regards and maintain your position, you are right and they are confused, it has always fallen upon the conservative doers of the world to carry the liberal dreamers of the world, it has always been that way and will be so long after you and I depart. |
