I couldn't find any reference anywhere to umpnmgr but here's a couple of ideas. Try hitting ctrl+alt+delete after it goes to blank screen. If task manager shows up click on new task button and run sfc /scannow. If that doesn't work you can try booting from the XP cd and run repair. Here's a link to show how it's done. These steps must be done exactly so print out the whole thing before trying the repair.
