Scapegoating the CIA is another popular conservative line du jour. That particular line presumes that the WMD war marketing line was actually the real reason W's crew wanted their war so bad. A somewhat dubious presumption.

The other bizarre thing about the CIA scapegoating line is that before the war, the Cheney / Rumsfeld crew was all whiney about how the CIA was underestimating the threat and not pursuing the "terrorist linkage intelligence" they were always leaking and retracting, and they had to get their own private channels to the raw intelligence. Now, they've gone 180 degrees and are blaming the CIA for overestimation. Anybody who takes this administration's ever shifting public pronouncements on the subject seriously has to have severe short term memory impairment.
