JF, The reason the inspectors failed is that there was nothing to inspect.

We know for sure now. There was no way of knowing for sure back then, even with the inspectors.

Was that knowledge alone worth the price we paid? Definitely not, but there were many other benefits of taking out Saddam, a well-known supporter of terrorism and a major source of anti-American sentiment.

And the war took our attention and resources away from the real battle, maybe 50,000 terrorists that are actually dangerous to us.

They're in Iraq now, as we've turned the place into a bright blue bug zapper. Some would call it fighting the war on terrorism on our terms; others would call it a blunder, both militaristic and political.
