I feel this company will be hurt more than the ones mentioned by you: Viking Office Products (VKNG). It has built its reputation on delivering next day or, in some markets, the same day, and has done an excellent job implementing this policy.
I called their 800 number today, and was informed that they are using USPS parcel post, and an order would take 2 WEEKS to deliver!! I admired the salesperson's honesty when she suggested that, if I needed product sooner than that (I suspect most do), that I shop at a local store! IMHO this will be a substantial drag on this company for the quarter we are now in. Including tomorrow, 10 business days will have been impacted, approximately 15% of current quarter, and the longer it goes, obviously the more impact there will be. |
