ok we don't specifically tell the UN to fluck off, but we don't ask them for permission either to carryout national interests around the world or when and where we may exercize our military might to protect our national interests...

It depends upon whether our interests fly in the face of the UN charter. Should they do so, then the UN would be in the right to call us on the carpet..

However, I can't name too many actions that have violated the UN charter.. Even our support of dictators in the past was generally for the purpose of staving off a greater evil, and normally came with pressure to permit political opposition.

the bottom line is that the UN is almost totally ineffective for the purposes's it was created for in the 1940s and most any other of its endeavors......

As would any court, or statute, were the laws to be selectively enforced and court orders ignored.

Believe me... I'm on the verge of suing my ex-wife for violating the terms of our divorce settlement... She's shown complete disregard for that court order..
