I agree with you that Korean and Gulf War I where different then the current war but not enough to say that Bush is killing American servicemen and the previous presidents where not. Truman and Bush I ordered America's forces in to battle when the US wasn't attacked. They made a decision that cost American lives. And yes (at least IMO) the decision was right both times, the world was better off with the intervention then without but they still made the decision (unlike in WWII when we were directly attacked).

The American public generally votes Republican for two reasons. First, they think that the Republicans run a more rational foreign policy. Bush just blew that concept completely out of the water.

I don't think its blown out of the water because I don't think the war to remove Saddam was so irrational. I know you disagree. It may or may not turn out to have been a good idea but it is not so clearly a bad idea as to be legitimately labeled irrational.

Second, they think that the Republicans have more fiscal responsibility. It's not Bush's fault, it's the economy that has put us in such deep deficit spending, but the public is stupid, they'll blame Bush for that too.

This is OT so I won't say much here but I think it partially is Bush's fault. We would have large deficits right now whoever was president but Bush hasn't really made any effort to control spending.
