John Kerry was close to sweeping next week's primaries and also would be a formidable opponent for President Bush. The survey by the American Research Group gave Kerry a one-point edge in a head-to-head matchup against Bush, beating him 47% to 46%, which is really a statistical tie. The ARG had other numbers that were bad news for the Bush camp. It pegged his job approval rating at an all-time low of 47%.
