the south is mired in job loss. I'll bet the south goes dem this time, at least in part. This economy only works for the "haves" and those people are not in the south.

This must be a joke. African American workers, like all other US workers, prospered in the 90s. Not since Bush came to office.

Edwards talked about the loss of jobs to cheaper labor overseas, as several members of the audience slowly nodded their heads. Like many American towns in recent years, Sumter has been affected by the economic downturn. Mill closings have cut off an estimated 400 to 600 jobs. Military bases in the area -- a huge source of employment -- also have been threatened with closure.

Walker was impressed that Edwards had worked out a plan to directly address the issue of job loss in North Carolina, and that he knew about the specific mill closings.
