hi,
Eheims are great but with how dirty turtles are it can be a pain cleaning them frequently. Do you have an Eheim prefilter? It's a piece of foam inside of plastic that the water passes through in the tank b4 being sucked into the Eheim. You clean the foam once or twice a week but then your Eheim canister stays about 90% cleaner so you don't have to clean nearly as frequently. The prefilters are $20 in stores and probably about $14 mail order.
