keep your eye on the ball, ted.

My comments from the outset have dealt
with the issue of rhetoric. Remember?
The "rich vs. poor" class rhetoric we discussed
at length?

Well, it seems to me you need to get off the rhetoric and start to deal with the facts:

Budget deficits are rising;
The war is costing a fortune with no end in sight;
Bush is undoing environmental legislation left and right;
American soldiers are dying in Iraq over a questionable cause;

How's that for starters?!

In the last series of posts, I was
referring to the rhetoric
of the left which is to blame America first,
suck up to the Europeans, and tout socialist
policy.

I really think its a question of evolution and enlightenment. No one is sucking up to the Europeans nor espousing socialitic policy. People who think that way tend to have a limited experience in the world and lean towards being small minded.

I'm not, and have not been, an apologist for
the Bush administration spending policies.
In fact, I've been critical.

Good! We agree! His spending is out of control!

I've also been consistent in my opinion that
spending cuts is where the focus should be
rather than increasing taxes.

I don't disagree per se but you don't cut taxes as you are increasing spending. Its a formula for disaster.

The current administration has swung too far
left in the spending area in an effort to
steal the thunder of the Democrats much the
like the way Clinton adopted/stole
much of the Republican agenda during his tenure.

John Fowler would agree with you. My attitude is much more simplistic. Mr. Bush is a poor little rich boy who doesn't know the value of the dollar.

The bottom line is that you can't trust any
of these politicians from either side of the aisle.

If true, that's a sad state of affairs.

What has been my common theme
here is that I object to certain tired old rhetoric
like the class warfare nonsense, and the
left's persistence in denigrating all things American.
The underpinning is their preference for socialism,
which is a system that really doesn't work.

The right calls just about anything socialism......for example, to their minds, providing Seniors with discounted bus passes is a symptom of creeping socialism.

Socialism is not that simplistic nor as evident as you and other righties might think it is. I know this runs counter to rightie thinking but Europe is not made up of socialist economies. Some European nations have overlaid their capitalist economies with a number of socialist elements but that does not make them socialists. Probably, Sweden is the most socialistic of the European countries but they are not socialists.

If you want to see true socialism at work, then visit a kibbutz in Israel. They are pure socialistic entities. The European economies look nothing like them.

At bottom, socialist policies are aimed at
buying votes and keeping the politicians in power.
The most ardent advocates of these policies are those
who would be relatively unaffected, like the rich
Hollywood types and multi-millionaires like Kerry,
Kennedy, etc.

How can they not be effected? They pay taxes as well.

But that's not the issue......the real issue is that people are cheap and hate to share. And that's what we are talking about...the rich conservatives do not want to share one iota of their largesse, inherited or earned. They do not care what happens to their fellow man. All they care about is sitting in a room counting their millions. While you might think that's cool, its certainly not very enlightened. Furthermore, its unacceptable. How long do you think the rich in this country can have their way at the expense of the poor? You might want to consult Marie Antoinette on that issue.

And if you think its just a national problem, think again. After this crummy little war is over in 5-10 years, we will have to get down to real business and start making sure the poorer nations on this globe start to catch up with us economically. Otherwise, we may be in for a world of hurt say 25-50 years down the road.

Don't let your blind hatred for Bush dazzle your
thinking so much that you lose the ability to
objectively evaluate.

Its time for regime change in the US.

If the way you respond to my posts is any indication,
it may already be too late.

Now, you're getting it!
