Mq, you could have saved the USA 100s of $billions and a bunch of body bags if they listened to you. Maybe it was really about the oil after all, keeping the price up which keeps BP's, Exxon's and Cheney's buddies' profits prolific. Occam's Razor and all that. The simple answer is usually the right one. When there are two simple answers combined, it's got to be the jackpot [get rid of Saddam and get control of the oil - Bingo! We'll take it.] Throw in 911 and Saddam supporting Palestinian terrorists and allegedly trying to blow up Laura and Pop and it's Game Over for Saddam.

The PNAC gang were certainly determined to look for the slightest shadow of a hint in a fuzzy satellite photo or intercepted misinterpretation that Saddam had dirty great huge WMDs spread from Kuwait to Syria and Iran to Jordan ready to go off in 45 seconds including reconstituted noocular bomb programme related activities and other dangerous weapons of mass destruction related ideas about programmes.

<Saddam has invited the CIA to go to Iraq to help prove that there are Weapons of Mass Destruction. As you know, proving a negative isn't easy. It's easy to prove that there ARE weapons of mass destruction by the simple expedient of finding them and getting a bunch of witnesses to sign up that sure enough, there they are. The CIA could give Hans Blix and NZ's ex SIS guys a hint on where to look.

Karl Popov had something to say about the falsifiability of theories.

The USA has got proof that there are Yetis in Baghdad but of course they can't say how they know. Catch 22 you know! They've got to keep the sources secret and even saying where Bigfoot is currently hiding will give away the game.

The USA is very untrustworthy and is quite prone to lying, so King George II shouldn't whine that people around the world are a bit doubtful about the truthfulness that the Ministry of Disinformation which was canceled. "It really was! True!" "We did NOT have sexual relations with that Ministry. They fired on us right there in the Gulf of Tonkin when we were fishing". ...contd...
>

I told you so.

Mqurice the sagacious.

PS: If the USA and PNAC adopt the NUN reconstitution conference idea, and gets serious about security instead of depending on laser-guided bombs, that would save them even more. But they'll ignore that because they are having so much fun carting body bags out of Iraq and arranging some sort of democratic process while blowing 100s of $billions. At least they are trying to get the UN involved again, albeit it in a half-baked fashion.

The reason the UN was originally formed should not be forgotten. 500 dead Americans is minuscule compared with the 10s of millions killed in serious wars. We could yet make the WWII numbers look amateurish.
