A low shot and a desperate attempt.

Democrat Dean Hints at Rival's Wrinkle Rumors

Sun February 01, 2004 06:56 PM ET

ROSEVILLE, Mich. (Reuters) - Is John Kerry really starting to get under Howard Dean's skin?
The Democratic presidential candidates have been squaring off over taxes, the Iraq war and special interest money, but on Sunday Dean appeared to resurrect speculation that the front-runner has been getting Botox injections to smooth out wrinkles.

As he telephoned supporters around the country, Dean, a physician and the former governor of Vermont, glanced up and caught a glimpse of country singer Willie Nelson on television.

"It looks like he had Botox injections, too," Dean remarked with a broad smile.

After the laughter subsided, he quickly added: "I didn't say who the other person was. I didn't say who the other person was."

When the question 'do you deny you've used Botox or other cosmetic enhancements' was put to Kerry on a Boston radio station last week, the Massachusetts senator replied: "Absolutely, I've never even heard of it."

Botox works by paralyzing the muscles that produce worry lines around the eyes and on the forehead.
