I was reading recently that in NH, I think it was, they make independents sign up for the party before they can vote in a primary and then they can unsign when they leave. LOL. Hard to say which mechanism is clumsier.

One thing about parties is that they have no membership requirements. Someone is a Republican because he calls himself one. There are very few clubs that have no membership standards at all. That's neither here nor there, just something I've always found odd and interesting...
