I'll match my poverty against yours anyday. I've been so poor that, when I went to the plasma donor center to sell my blood to buy food, they told me I didn't have enough protein in my blood for them to be able to buy it! I've since had years when I made six figures. So I've been there and done that. I'm not defending past welfare programs, and I believe in people earning what they get. I also believe that unfettered capitalism exists only for profit, and ways need to be found to give it a human face, for there really are people who can't help themselves.
