I guess I have a problem with the notion of "selective inflation"

What you see is what you get - regardless of whether or not you or I or anyone else has a problem with it. It clearly is what happened.

Now, perhaps you do not think it is sustainable.
Well it probably isn't. Perhaps China slows or the US economy slows and the trend vanishes completely, or since it is a clear trend perhaps it just lasts longer than anyone thinks.

In fact I want to add to that thought. Perhaps you should be looking for WHY that happened in spite of your problem with it. The why has been discussed 100 times but you just do not want to see it.

The why is
1) overcapacity
2) no demand for goods at anything other than bargain prices
3) loss of jobs
4) job gains at walmart vs job losses at higher pay

Now if you do not like those reasons then offer better ones.
It is insufficient to say : I guess I have a problem with the notion of "selective inflation"
When it is happening right in front of your nose.
