Using explosives is probably the worst catch/kill ratio of all.

Here in Florida since the 3 mile net ban, quite a few old geezers are making some extra change fishing for pompano off the beach with rod and reel. It is a lucrative fish to pursue and can be selectively targeted, though the fishery is producing pressure on the preferred bait (the mole crab, known here as "sand fleas"). If you are a senior, it is easier to qualify for a commercial license.

My particular old geezer (dad) doesn't sell his fish, as he doesn't want to compete with those who depend on the money. It is rather inspiring to drive up to the beach and see these guys, aged 60 to 90, out there being active and bringing home the daily bread.
