The reality, with our current system, is that money needs to be raised by government officials, we might as well accept it. I don't care that unions give money to some campaign or the other, really. The issue is whether these contributions can skew the voting to such a degree as to ensure the constituency gets screwed ala Bush. The BushCo pharma lobby and the disastrous budget busting medicare drug plan for example. Do we have any examples of Kerry screwing the entire constituency for his lobbyists? Thats what I would be interested in. Not that he takes money, but that he votes by it.
