The moral of this story is preserve dissent and freedom to say what is questionable, and good cannot suffer any restriction.

This lesson is yet to be learned by those who suffered from it, and the descendants of the errant.

Proving once again that it is easy to miss the point, no matter how harshly it is taught.

It was not the lack of law but the presence of too much law that led to the powerlessness of ostracized groups within that society.

There is no uniquenes to this particular circumstance to the abuse of power, or the extremity of ethnocentricity disguised as some sort of preservation in this instance. Failure to see this as a repetition of a common theme of xenophobic 'scapegoatism' throughout man's history, serves to help set the stage for more of this unecessary and wasteful conduct.
