Grandpaw, had castor bean plants to kill the moles. My mother showed us the plant, and the seed pods and the seeds and told us they were poison and not to play with them.

She did this once. That was that. Over 60 years later I still know what a castor bean plant loks like.

One sees them all over California, even in urban areas.
