There are some thrill seekers around here, primarily doing things like riding the rapids on the upper Potomac, but most people like motorboats or sailboats. There is a "marina culture", I discovered. My father had a cabin cruiser docked in Kent Narrows, an area leading to the Bay on the Eastern Shore about a half hour from Annapolis. Sometimes he would invite us to visit, and we would never take the boat out, but would hang out on it. He would chat with neighboring boat owners, who also did not take their boats out. Sometimes, we used the marina pool. Although we went out on the water occasionally, I figured out that the point of a having a boat was the lifestyle, not sailing, for a lot of people.
