I suppose instead of holding in her outstretched arm the might torch of liberty, and we could supplant it with an M-16; perhaps a machine gun belt could drap over her shoulder down to her hip. And of the tablet she holds in her other hand? We could replace the inscription of "July 4th, 1776" with an inscription of the date George W. Bush got inaugurated. And the base of the statute could include all sorts of military armaments like cannons, rocket launchers, etc. And, of course, we could fence her in real good! If we're not gonna repair her back to her original form, perhaps she should be dressed to best symbolize this Bush Administration. pbase.com nps.gov
