if you were to ask people who built the shuttle, more people would say Martin Marietta than Rockwell, of course because of the Challenger tragedy.

Why is that, David? I'm probably a typical person concerning the shuttle, but the only name I heard regarding the contractor for the shuttle was Rockwell. What did Martin Marietta do? [ignorant question obviously, but I really don't know]. When I was in college one of my fellow students said that before enrolling in college he worked at Rockwell helping to make those ceramic tiles that go on the outside of the shuttle. Actually he probably only helped carry the tiles from one point to another -G-
