I don't have a URL handy, but I have posted articles showing that precisely the opposite is true. The murder rate in Baghdad is way below our big Cities. So we have a dispute. I wonder which party is right, if any. What is going on at the moment with the Iraqis attempting to form a Government is exactly what is to be expected. Democracy is messy. Oh yeah. Just wait and see how messy it can be. The idea that the kind of underlying ethnic and religious tension that we have in Iraq can be resolved simply by finding the right sort of government structure seems almost pathetically naive to me. We shall see...
