Hi fatty, RE: "What if you work very hard but the Chinese and Indians work harder?"

I worked a tad harder than my CS project partner who was from IIT - he owes me one. And I put in more hours than some of the best Chinese students I lived with in the dorm.

No, you shouldn't assume Americans cannot compete. Having competed with people from around the world, I think we can do it.

RE: "What if you do a much better job than your parents but still won't get as good a retirement as your parents?"

Retirees will do extremely well, if they are investors. This is why we need to have a program to get every poor and middle class person into privatized investments.

RE: "What if your million dollar house is bought by an Australian Starbuck clerk thanks to the further depressed currency?"

I don't think a house is an investment.

RE: "I think it's time for responsible politicians to educate the mass to accept defeat early so it won't hurt as much later on."

There's a lot to be gained. Think of how well our country has done by selling products into the USA market. Now imagine how well our country will do when we sell products to overseas markets that are equal in size to the USA. Are you ready for that type of growth?

Regards,
Amy J
