In 2004, AO MOSENERGO plans to lay and modernize more cable lines in Moscow

28.01.2004

This year AO MOSENERGO plans to expand operations involving the upgrade and installation of new cable lines in Moscow. In accordance with approved schedules Moskabelsyetmontazh (MKSM), AO MOSENERGO's division, should lay around 150 km of cable lines which noticeably exceeds last year figures.

MKSM is a specialty company that carries out a full range of installation, upgrade and maintenance operations for 1-35 kV, 110-220 kV è 500 kV cable lines. MKSM traditionally takes part in creating power supply infrastructure in residential and other areas. In 2003, MKSM laid power cables in a future residential area at Khodynskoye Pole, Skiing Center in Krylatskoye (first covered skking facility in Moscow), and the International Moscow Business Center Moscow City.

In 2004, MKSM will be tasked with re-installation of three 110-220 kV cable lines at the cross-section between the third transportation ring and Suschevskii Val, as well as with the removal of aerial power lines near Sharikopodshipnikovskaya street in order to free space for residential housing. MKSM will have to lay these power lines underground. In total, MKSM will have to lay and install more than 50 km of 110-220 kV cable lines.

Today, MKSM uses techniques and equipment that make it possible to lay cable lines in complex geological conditions of a megapolice. To lay cables under residential areas, highways and railways, MKSM uses horizontal drilling (so called «no-trenching» method) which reduces costs and construction time.

This year, MKSM plans to replace considerably more worn-out cables. The company replaces old and unsafe oil-filled cable lines mostly with polyethilene-insulated cables by ABB, Nexans è Pirelli. These cables are resistant to adverse soil conditions, more environment friendly and reliable. In addition, this year MKSM will take part in the construction of two new substations (Narvskaya and Chkalovskaya) and the upgrade of the existing substation Vykhino.
